You don’t like any

After looking at dozens of Sotheby’s Phoenix homes, nothing meets your expectations. Keep in mind, most homes don’t look nicely decorated as the ones we see on TV. Try to ignore the decor and focus on the floor plan. 

Too much focus on small stuff

While granite countertops and stainless steep appliances are the in thing, many homes might not have these upgrades. So don’t focus too much on the small stuff. Many features can be changed without too much work. The same with light and plumbing fixtures, window treatments, paint and carpeting. They all can be easily replaced. 

Expecting too much

You obviously know your budget by now but maybe the homes in your price range aren’t living up to your expectations. If that’s the case, you might either have to change location or wait until you save more money to buy a more expensive home. 

Something unusual

If you want a Victorian style home at Sotheby’s Phoenix or in Scottsdale, chances are, you’re not going to find it. So if you want a home design unusual for your neighborhood, you might be looking for awhile or you might have to look in communities where that style is more common.

A long wish list

If you have a long list of criteria and reject every home that doesn’t meet each wish. You’ll always want more than  you can afford. You might need to narrow down your wishes and make a list of what you can and can’t live without. 

Basically, the perfect home doesn’t exist so you’ll need to strike a compromise on what you’re willing to live with and without.
