Some of the reasons I’m going to mention about why buyers and sellers get ticked off might not seem like a big deal, unless you’re on the receiving end. When I’m selling homes in Cactus Acres or other communities, the same pet peeves keep coming up.
For one, missing appointments is a big one according to The Washington Post. Also, the publication lists the “impersonal nature of modern real estate transactions, scheduling struggles, and sellers lingering during showings.”
This happens all the time in Cactus Acres and other neighborhoods I sell in. I’ll receive a call or text message that a potential buyer wants to view a home at a certain time. The seller makes their home available. But then the buyer never shows up. The seller is not only angry at the buyer, but also gets angry at me because I wasn’t able to give the seller a heads up about the cancellation.
Many sellers also don’t like the “lack of personal” touch in real estate. Even in Cactus Acres, much is done by email. But if a buyer or seller prefers a different form of communication, I’m willing to do it.
But sometimes the seller is not always the flexible one. Many times, sellers insist that buyers only come during limited hours and don’t want to take appointments during other times of the day. The buyer often skips that home since it’s not easy to see. That’s why, as an agent, I stress the importance to sellers to have a flexible schedule.
Some buyers also don’t like it when sellers refuse to leave their home and instead follow buyers around to talk about the place and show them features. Sometimes this can cause the buyer to leave without looking a the house. At Cactus Acres homes for sale or elsewhere, I usually try to engage a seller in a conversation so the buyer has a chance to look around.
