Pie Five Pizza is opening this weekend south of Scottsdale Quarter.  This is the chain’s first Arizona location.  AZCentral.com reports the franchise has 310 stores and five corporate-owned stores in 12 countries including the Middle East.

One of the big attractions of Pie Five Pizza is the timing.  If you’re in a hurry to say catch a movie or concert, the restaurant can have your pie ready in about five minutes.  And talk about a selection of ingredients.  Expect to find 27 meat and veggie toppings and four options for crust.  You can’t beat the price either.  A 9-inch cheese costs $5.49 with pies with toppings running $6.99.

Pie Five Pizza is just one of many fast-casual pizza restaurants entering the Arizona market.  In fact, AZCentral says restaurant-industry analyst NPD Group reports the market is rolling in dough.  It’s a $21 billion-per-year industry.

Like many fast-casual pizza chains, Pie Five Pizza appeals to consumers with their build-your-own concept that includes the dough and even your choice of sauce.

The restaurant is located at 14601 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale piefivepizza.com, 480-483-5429

TOP PHOENIX AREA RESTAURANTS

While we’re on the subject of restaurants, TripAdvisor recently came out with their list of top 5 restaurants in the valley.

#1 is Rucsconi’s American Kitchen, on the northeast corner of Tatum and Shea.  Located in the Paradise Village Gateway Center, the restaurant seats just over 100, including the patio.  TripAdvisor likes the three-year-old eatery due to the wood burning grill and its wide range of American cuisine.

#2 on the list is Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana located at Doubletree Ranch and Scottsdale Rd.  The restaurant also has three other valley locations.  The restaurant says they utilize the same methods practiced for hundred of years in Napoli, Italy.

#3 Capital Grille with a Scottsdale location at the Promenade at Scottsdale Rd & Frank Lloyd Wright.

#4 is Bobby Q and Fuego Bistro comes in at #5 — both in Phoenix.
